AWPL is a global community of pan-African leaders.
We work to empower African Women in political leadership through education, mentorship and networking.
We are starting in Ghana, the first country to gain independence on the African continent. 60+ years on, female parliamentary leadership, is at 14.5%.
Rwanda has made strides here, at 61.2% and the furthest extent of our challenge, is seen in Nigeria, with 3.9% female parliamentary seats.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
